Whether you’re looking to start a new dragon boat team, or looking to expand on your current recruiting methods, this is the place for you. There are a ton of features that come with having a team at ready-ready.org and it’s all up to you how much of it you want to use. But ultimately, this is an excellent start to let people know out there that you exist.
Step 1: Creating a team
Start by logging into ready-ready.org. Unlike joining a team, which may/may not require you to have a login, creating a team definitely requires a login. Once you’ve logged into the system, click on the dragon boat link. Click on the create team link.
At this screen there are only really 3 pieces of information from you:
a) your team name
b) the country your team resides in
c) the postal code of where the creator lives
With these 3 pieces of information we’re able to gather your location and create a team for you. There are also 3 fields that you can fill out if you’d like your team to be publicly announced on our news page. It’s a simple questionnaire that you can talk to us about your team with. Afterwards, you’ll be forwarded to the next screen to modify the season details of your team.
Step 2: Modifying your team’s details
The next step is to begin filling in the details for your team. There are many fields so we’ll go through each one of them.
Team Settings Information:
This information is found in the upper left hand corner of the team settings screen. There are 3 fields here:
Organization: If your team is associated with an organization/sponsor, you can place their name here. This is an optional field.
Website: If you have an external website that you use to promote your team, you can place it’s web address here. Note: For those of you looking to use your own website to recruit members and have ready-ready.org route them there, please put the url of where your recruiting page is. This is an optional field.
Phone: A contact number for your team. Completely optional.
Description: This is the about section of your team. You have a opportunity to write about your team, it’s achievements, what your team is like, etc.
200X Season Information:
Following filling in your basic team information, the next step is to start filling in the season information that paddlers will require to make a decision whether or not to join your team.
Grade: This determines the level of competition that your team competes at. It can range anywhere from National to Recreational
Mode: This is the format of your dragon boat team; mixed, men’s or women’s.
200X Festivals: This is where you can put information down about the festivals you will be competing in for that year.
Practice Site: A free form text field to indicate to the paddlers where you intend to practice for the season.
Schedule: A field to put down your practice schedule. You can write it down anyway you see fit
Cost Per Member: This is number field to place the cost per member to join the team. No currency labels are required; the members joining your team will most likely be local!
Early Bird Price: Some teams indicate that they have an earlier bird, or a special members only price; you can put that information here.
Recruit Now: This field allows you to turn on/off recruiting for your team. In the off mode, paddlers searching via the search engine will not be able to find your team.
Send Applications: There are 3 options to select from here. It’s important to note that all three will email the team staff when new applications arrive via ready-ready.
a) via my ready-ready.org account: this will add applicants to your team roster, allowing you to decline and accept members as you see fit. The only requirement is that users will require a ready-ready account to apply to your team
b) send all applications directly to my contact: this will email applications to the team staff and go no further than that. They will not be added to the ready-ready.org roster.
c) direct them to my website: when this is selected paddlers who click on apply now will be directed to the website that you indicate in the ‘website’ field. We recommend that you place the url of the recruiting page there for convenience of the applicants.
